Prom Hell Invades Emmys!

I've just checked out pictures from Emmys red carpet and I've noticed that "Prom" was a big trend that night. From bouffant updo to tacky ball gowns, I can't think of any other term that is more suitable to associate with some of the night's biggest disaster, so prom it is. Here are some of the trends on tv's biggest night!

The Bold and the Beautiful:

The always beautiful Emily Blunt shines in this periwinkle blue Christian Dior adorned with gorgeous white details. She looks very classy with her old Hollywood glamour hair and minimal jewelry.

Tina Fey became the centre of attention as she walks down the red carpet in this bold Oscar de la Renta. And I've gotta say, I love it! This is a huge milestone for Tina if you compare to her previous "funky" choices. Who says you can't be funny and stylish at the same time!

January Jones looks like a superhero in this shocking electric blue Versace. The contrast between her blonde hair and the electric blue is pretty comical. With all that drama going on in her dress, She opted for undone hair, simple pumps and zero accessories. The details on her couture dress is remarkable though.

The darling Dianna Agron in a dashing Carolina Herrera. This dress really suits her, it totally brings out the sweetness that Dianna has. Personally, I think no one can pull this look off better than her.

Light Minimalistic Beauty:

I love this dress on English Actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw. As of yet, I don't know who is the designer of this gown. I absolutely love it! Gugu is not a household name yet, but she definitely has the potential to be one!

Modern Family's Sarah Hyland looks pretty in Pamella Roland. This satin dress, hair and makeup is definitely age appropriate for this young rising star.

Amber Riley looks like a goddess in this custom made Melissa Masse gown. The empire waistline accentuates her curves beautifully.

Glitterati:

Maria Menoanos looks gorgeous in this Ralph and Russo dress. The back of this dress is even capable of stopping traffic!

Heather Morris looks completely different from her glee alter ego Brittany in this gold column dress by Ina Soltani.

Claire Danes in Armani Prive. Even with the razzle dazzle, I'm a little bored with this dress. But she still looks very beautiful.

What Was She Thinking?

OMFG Naya Rivera, this Simin dress is giving me a headache! And the hair doesn't help it either. Sorry, honey, you look like an 80's blast from the past that I never wanted to relieve again!

Woah, stop it right there Mindy Kaling. You look like a scorned prom date in this Aguri Sagimori concoction! What happen to 'Less is More'?

Is it just me, or does Anna Paquin looks incredibly masculine in this Alexander McQueen gown? This dress did nothing to her figure. It even shrunken her torso and made her appear shorter than usual. The proportion of the dress just made her seem annoyingly boxy.

So who do you think deserves the best and worst dressed title?

Clash of the Emmys!

Rose Byrne VS Kim Kardashian

Rose and Kim are both channeling their inner goddesses on the Emmys red carpet this 2010. I love the cutout details on Rose's dress, but her hair seems terribly frizzy! On the other hand, Kim looks very polish with her hair pulled back, sleek yet soft. The neck piece on her Marchesa dress is an accessory all on its own!

So, Who do you think wore the grecian look better?

In my opinion, Kim rocked this look! I love Rose's dress, but overall, her hair just ruined this look.

I'm gonna blog about Emmys Best and Worst Dressed next so stay tuned!

I Adore

Two weeks of the new semester had passed, and tensions are already piling up! *Typical life of a college student... What do I expect...* Oh, and I joined choir! Auditioned for it to be exact, and I got in! I was hoping that I can join a glee club initially, but since my college doesn't have one, then choir is the next best thing!

I went on a little shopping spree before class starts. *just a little spree!* I came across this super cute ring in f21! Jadore... how lovely! *couldn't resist!*

One more quick update, I have an interview this coming Friday regards to joining the student body council. I'm planning my outfit for the interview as we speak!

XOXO

Burlesque!

I'm totally excited about Christina Aguilera's new project, a movie musical entitled Burlesque. The movie also features Cher, Cam Gigandet, Kristen Bell and Eric Dane. There's a lot of concern whether Burlesque would end up like Mariah Carey's flopped Glitter. But I will still watch it nevertheless. The trailer blew me away! What about you? Will you give this movie a chance?

I totally forgot that Christina had this big old voice until I watched this trailer. At first, when I heard that Christina is going to star in a cabaret movie, honestly, I was expecting a lady marmalade deja vu. But based on the trailer, it seems like it's going to be more tasteful than lady marmalade.

What I really want to blog about today is Christina's hair in the movie! She looks adorable and more youthful with bangs and curls at the ends.

I'm not sure when it is going to hit theaters though... I can't wait!

Sun Kiss!

What I would typically wear during the weekends or when I'm not going to college.

My idea of a weekend outfit is something that's comfortable, something that will enable me to wiggle my toes. I always wear this top when I'm too tired to think of something to wear. With it's crazy hearts graphic in silver, you can definitely spot me from afar! And as for my necklace, its a bejeweled stiletto!

Malaysia... Notoriously Modest?

I stumbled upon a picture of Katy Perry in the Fashion Police photo gallery on E! online a while back. It had been quite some time now but I'd only just remembered it.

This picture was taken when Katy Perry was visiting my home country, Malaysia, where she was slated to perform on MTV World Stage along with Tokio Hotel in July 2010.

What's wrong with this picture? Nothing really... *besides the obvious fact that she look alarmingly conservative compared to her usual choices of blue wigs and cupcake bikini top these days!* No, there's nothing wrong with this picture, what's wrong is the caption next to this picture on E! online. Click here to view.

The caption refers to Malaysia as being a "notoriously modest country", which in my opinion is not exactly an accurate description for it. Believe me, I've lived here all my life and "modest" is not quite the right word to describe Malaysia let alone "notoriously modest". I don't blame E! online for reporting it incorrectly though, since not a lot of people understands Malaysia... Heck, not a lot of people even heard of Malaysia!

And so...

I'm here to set the record straight...

You see, the idea of Malaysia being an ultra conservative country came about when artists from outside of Malaysia came to perform here. Before they come, stars such as Gwen Stefani and The Pussycat Dolls were reportedly given a disclose description by the government regarding the amount of skin that should be covered up.

The thing is, the government has a strict policy regarding how female performers should dress and behave on stage. But clearly, this policy only applies to international artists. If you attend a concert by local artists or any other performances for that matter here in Malaysia, the locals were not pressured by authorities to cover up when they perform. Hence, I think it's pretty hypocritical of them.
Malaysians fan were saddened *myself included* when Beyonce had to cancel her Malaysian leg of her world tour due to complications from such policies. I don't blame Beyonce for cancelling her concert here, the government's demand is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

A similar situation happened to Avril Lavigne too. As of now, female artists tried to steer clear from the possibilities of performing here.

Just because we have a strict government, it doesn't mean that the people here lack freedom of expression. If you're walking down the streets of Malaysia, chances are, you might even come across people that make Taylor Momsen look like a kitty cat.

Beyonce, if you're reading this... *very unlikely!* I would like to say that MALAYSIA LOVE YOU! *but our government... I think they prefer Justin Bieber!*

If Fashion Can Kill...

Be on the lookout people... because fashion has come to a deadly turning point, one that might take you on a ride to the emergency room if you're not careful.

Every guy's dream, fireworks display on boobs!

Who needs a bodyguard when you got spikes covered from head to toe!

No one would ever dare to steal this spiked-out Hermes Birkin, because one might lose a finger or two trying to snatch it away!

Afraid of being thrown at by millions of female fans? Try this on for size! *Justin Bieber should definitely wear this!*

This outfit should definitely come with a warning sign!

No one will be touching your humps and lady lumps if you wear this! Pervert-proof!

This outfit may not looked as deadly as the others but looks can be deceiving! I called this the silent killer, with shoulders that pointy, one can go blind just by sniffing Kim's hair!

But don't get me wrong, no matter how dangerous some of these trends might be, I really do love the idea of spikes and hardware! *but maybe not the fireworks bra... just sayin'...*Anyway, most of the outfits I posted above are for the idea of entertainment and theatricality. I personally love spikes and here are some less dangerous ways to embrace it!

Love the idea of incorporating spikes in jewelries!

I love shoes with spikes on them! It will add a bit of an edge to any outfit!

Spikes on your body is acceptable only if you're cautiously aware of how lethal you are.

This Coat, That Scarf!

I was inspired by The Girl In The Green Scarf from the movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic! I like the idea of putting together hues of pink with green or any other colors. For me, I love incorporating colors in fall outfits as most people will stick to the more conservative shades such as greys and blacks. Just because summer is over doesn't mean that you have to give up colors!*btw, I busted my fish nets!*

My Pink Pussycat bag with pink satin interior and a crown pendant at the front!
