Flaws and All

No one is perfect. Famous stars such as Jessica Alba and Beyonce are potrayed as being "perfect" on the pages of magazines and television screens. I know it's hard to believe but even they have flaws and imperfection.

I felt compelled to address this issue as I myself had been struggling with self-esteem issues from the start.

I admit, I do have my moments of feeling fat and ugly, almost every living female does that to themselves. It's pretty healthy to worry about weight fluctuation once in a while, but to let it overpower you, that is just plain crazy!

I decided to share some of my flaws today to hopefully address some of my readers who might be dealing with self-esteem issues, cuz I truly believed that I have the most flaws in the world!

1. Bad skin
- I have acne-prone skin. I've been dealing with it all my life since I can remember. It frustrated me cuz I wanted to have flawless skin. Make-up is an escape for me, but sometimes it just make my skin even worse. On top of that, I have super sensitive skin. Just recently, My leg was covered in rashes. As it started to heal, scars were left on my entire leg.

My gross leg! Any tips on how to reduce the scars???

2. I'm short!!!
- I am barely 5 feet tall. My height is only about 148cm. I really wanted to be taller at first, but now, I'm okay with it. Actually, I think it's a good thing cuz it an excuse to buy more high heels!!!

3. I'm fat...
- As you can tell from my pictures, I'm not exactly a skinny person. My weight right now is 50kg. *last time I checked!* I used to be 10kg lighter cuz of my dancing. But since I got to college, I gained a lot of weight considering I didn't have the time and place to workout. There is no gym in my college. And so, have to deal with the consequences!

Despite all of the flaws I had, *I only mentioned 5% of my flaws!* I've grown to appreciate myself more. Be comfortable in your own skin. Don't let the media or anyone for that matter judge you or bring you down. Just be you.

From now onwards... Lets LOVE OURSELF people!!! ;)

XOXO

Casualty

It's sunday!
Sunday in my calender is T-shirt day!
Sunday also mean no makeup day!
Wore a bright yellow shirt today.

I like the black graphics going on here.
Paired it with a pair of black studded shorts.

Normally when it comes to T-shirt,
I would always go for one that has really cool graphic prints.
One of my favorite line that carries T-shirts is Ed Hardy.

I don't wear a lot of t-shirts though...
But when I do, I feel realllly comfy!

Happy 4th of July!

Just came back from celebrating Independence Day!
*even though we were 12hours ahead of the states!*

For the record, I'm still in my home country, Malaysia. And we're celebrating another country's Independence Day... Weird...

F.Y.I.... I'm in the American Degree Transfer Program at SUC, will be transferring in two years time. Still searching for my future college, any suggestions? Looking at Penn State right now...

I painted my nails in the occasion theme colors! Red, White and Blue. Since I don't have a blue nail polish, I used purple instead. *Gotta work with whatcha got!*

The concert started off with a Sing-A-Long of the national anthem. *The Star-Spangled Banner* After that, let the party begin!

A lot of our seniors were the main act. Some were good, some were just plain noise! We sneak out of the venue at certain times cuz we just couldn't stand the noise. *Oh lordie! No one really enjoyed the performance though, it seems like eveybody were just hangin' outside of the MPH scarfing down burgers!

Some backstage action!

There were talent scouts searching for models, tv personalities, promoters, etc. My friends and I even signed up for it! *Just for the fun of it though, no harm in trying out!* All we need to do was to fill up a questionnaire, *we were asked regarding our special talents! Since I have none whatsoever, so I just simply wrote something on the top of my head!* Next, photoshoots! We were asked to pose on top of a platform, awkward as I was, felt really weird with all the people looking at us! Of course, there were some people that just couldn't wait to jump up onto the podium!

They showed the live world cup match at around 10. That's when people started to fill up the seats! DJ's were spinning tunes with an open dance floor, but no one was dancing, they were too hyped up watching the match! Germany vs Argentina, with the Germans galore at 4-0, poor Argentina! I'm not a football fan, I was just drooling over the soccer studs the entire time, unaware of Argentina's defeat!

What I wore: One of my favorite dress cuz it just look so fun and cute! Perfect for a concert! The poodle skirt was kinda short though, so I wore a lacy pair of shorts underneath. I should have worn my heels!

After a long night, went back to my hostel after midnight. Night y'all!

Sushi OVERLOAD !!!

Just arrived at my hostel here in sunway... *jet lag!!!*
I flew from Brunei via Air Asia instead of Miri, & so....
I GOT TO EAT SUSHI @ EXCAPADE !!! REJOICE !!!

Why am I so excited?? Why... these aren't just normal sushi... they are by far (in my opinion) the best sushi in Malaysia & Brunei! I've tried quite a number of different japanese restaurant here in Malaysia, but nothing beats EXCAPADE SUSHI!

F.Y.I. EXCAPADE SUSHI is only available in Brunei, the one that I went to, as seen on the picture above, is the 2nd branch in Kiulap. It was my first time dining in this Kiulap branch. The branch that I most frequently went to was actually the one in Kuala Belait.

My family & I went to have lunch there before going to the airport (gotta catch my flight in time for the new semester!). As usual, the restaurant was jam-packed! We waited for approximately 15 mins for an empty table *so worth it!*.

The following are pictures of my favourites at EXCAPADE:
*I googled all of the pictures as seen in this blog post actually, forgot to take pictures of my own as I was way too eager to start eating!*

The famous Grilled Salmon Fish Head! A must-try here in EXCAPADE. We always ordered this whenever we dine here.

Left: Scallops covered in fish roe I presume. Very savoury!
Right: Grilled salmon & asparagus

Edamame~ I've read about it somewhere that eating these young soy beans are ideal for people who wanna lose weight as they were considered to be fat-burners!

Introducing... Rock & Roll! The slice of unagi on top... Delicious!

If you are a salmon-lover like me, you will definitely enjoy this! It's called Manhatton Maki & you'll probably guessed it, crispy salmon skin on the outside!

Alaskan Maki! Look at the enormous chunk of salmon in the middle, they are soooo generous when it comes to salmon!

Okay, enough of the visuals here... getting reallllyyyy hungry here!

I miss EXCAPADE SUSHI so much everytime i'm in kl...
Unfortunately, I have to wait 7 more weeks in order to go back to my hometown...

Hope to go back soon & trust me... Excapade sushi will be my very first destination once I stepped out of the aeroplane!

Inner Reign

I attended sunway's scholarship award ceremony yesterday, & I gotta tell ya, it was super BORING! I was practically half-asleep the entire time. Anyway, the point is, i've just realized that recently, fearless celebrities are starting to embrace their inner true self by appearing on magazine covers without a stitch of makeup on. Some people may think it's crazy to do so, but for me, I think it's FABULOUS!

One of the first few magazine to showcase a feature on Stars Without Makeup is People Magazine.

Back in 2008, stars such as D
rew Barrymore, Jessica Biel & lots more grace the pages of People Mag in their oh-so-natural state.

Jessica Simpson also hopped on the "stars without makeup" bandwagon by appearing on the cover of Marie Claire without makeup or retouching. (at least that is what she wants us to think)

(supposedly air-blown hair)

French Elle also did a stars without makeup issue with 3 makeup-less celebrities on their cover (separately of course!)

According to Life&Style Magazine, Kim Kardashian is the l
atest celebrity that is "brave" enough to appear on their cover without makeup. To tell you the truth, i don't really buy it. I mean, she obviously had some concealer under her eyes or something! The cover had PHOTOSHOP written all over it! (oh, come on!)

( real or not real? You'll be the judge of that!)

Whether or not Kim had makeup on, at least she does look more natural than the glamorous makeup she usually had on, so I definitely applauded her for that!

Don't cha just love it when celebrities looked like real human beings fo
r a change?

Woman of all shapes & sizes regardless of age or race should be proud of how they look.

A few years back, while everybody was putting seemingly perfect models or celebrities on the cover of magazines or as the faces of advertising ad, Dove had started a campaign that features women of different shapes & sizes to encourage self-esteem among women. This Dove Campaign for Real Beauty inspires women to be more confident in their own skin.

The world today are starting to realize the negative impact of displaying photoshopped images of celebs in magazines and commercial ads. Baby steps are taken in acknowledging the fact that real women possess real beauty that should not be taken for granted.

Every women should feel proud of themselves. Flaunt what God gave ya! As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

The September Issue

It's the 2nd day of my semester break here in SUC,
I was suppose to be on a flight back to Limbang,
but instead I'm stuck here in my hostel due to the fact that I had to attend a scholarship award ceremony this coming saturday,
I had no choice but to postpone my flight till sunday. *sheesh!*

On the bright side,
I finally have time to watch this movie/documentary that I've been dying to see, it's called:
THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE
THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE captures the behind-the-scene drama that follows the making of Vogue's 2007 September issue that features Sienna Miller on the cover.

F.Y.I, the dress Sienna wore was by Marchesa.

(The documentary was actually released years ago,
I just couldn't find the time to watch it!)

I'm lovin' it as it not only give the public an inside look at the fabulous life of the high priest of fashion, Anna Wintor, but it also showcase the craziness that was involved in preparing the fashion bible that is, Vogue Magazine.

I strongly recommend this movie/documentary to all you fashionistas out there!

Next up,
THE HANGOVER!
