Sushi OVERLOAD !!!

Just arrived at my hostel here in sunway... *jet lag!!!*
I flew from Brunei via Air Asia instead of Miri, & so....
I GOT TO EAT SUSHI @ EXCAPADE !!! REJOICE !!!

Why am I so excited?? Why... these aren't just normal sushi... they are by far (in my opinion) the best sushi in Malaysia & Brunei! I've tried quite a number of different japanese restaurant here in Malaysia, but nothing beats EXCAPADE SUSHI!

F.Y.I. EXCAPADE SUSHI is only available in Brunei, the one that I went to, as seen on the picture above, is the 2nd branch in Kiulap. It was my first time dining in this Kiulap branch. The branch that I most frequently went to was actually the one in Kuala Belait.

My family & I went to have lunch there before going to the airport (gotta catch my flight in time for the new semester!). As usual, the restaurant was jam-packed! We waited for approximately 15 mins for an empty table *so worth it!*.

The following are pictures of my favourites at EXCAPADE:
*I googled all of the pictures as seen in this blog post actually, forgot to take pictures of my own as I was way too eager to start eating!*

The famous Grilled Salmon Fish Head! A must-try here in EXCAPADE. We always ordered this whenever we dine here.

Left: Scallops covered in fish roe I presume. Very savoury!
Right: Grilled salmon & asparagus

Edamame~ I've read about it somewhere that eating these young soy beans are ideal for people who wanna lose weight as they were considered to be fat-burners!

Introducing... Rock & Roll! The slice of unagi on top... Delicious!

If you are a salmon-lover like me, you will definitely enjoy this! It's called Manhatton Maki & you'll probably guessed it, crispy salmon skin on the outside!

Alaskan Maki! Look at the enormous chunk of salmon in the middle, they are soooo generous when it comes to salmon!

Okay, enough of the visuals here... getting reallllyyyy hungry here!

I miss EXCAPADE SUSHI so much everytime i'm in kl...
Unfortunately, I have to wait 7 more weeks in order to go back to my hometown...

Hope to go back soon & trust me... Excapade sushi will be my very first destination once I stepped out of the aeroplane!

Fashion Police: KLIA

I was at KLIA a few days ago to catch my flight back to my hometown in Sarawak. It was semester break & I was very much eager to go back home to see my family & friends.

Any-hoo... I was soooo bored while waiting for my flight that I started taking pictures! ! !
*did this out of boredom, don't worry... I'm not a stalker!*

In my opinion, people should give more effort on the way they dress before hopping on an aeroplane.

I mean, it doesn't have to be fancy, just something chic but still casual instead of something fugly!
Ladies.... take note!

Now, let the session begin!

Omfg... too trashy in my opinion, sorry! The fit of the top is wayyyy too awful, I know Malaysia is hot, but... is this really necessary? FINED!

Buzz... Buzz... Is that a bee I see? Oh, wait... it's just a clueless guy totally unaware of the fact that he forgot to check himself in the mirror before stepping out of his house in the morning. FINED!

Hmm... not bad actually, black top with a pair of casual jeans *love the belt!*, definitely deserves an A for effort!

Honey, the Great Depression called, they want their outfit back! Come on... this look is way too depressing for my taste. And don't get me started on those loafers. Next time, add a pop of color will ya? FINED!

I'm not entirely convinced on the checkered top, but this lady right here is definitely working it! *Props on wearing high heels!* Love the bob! cute!

And now, the best dressed anonymous goes to...... Ta daa!

The woman in this shot exemplify a fuss-free way to get dressed at an airport. Love how she tied up her hair in an undone manner to exude a more laid back feel to the entire ensemble. Remember! Sunglasses are a must!
*love the bag she's carrying!*

(the best accessory she had is the man candy in her arms!)

The oversize & loose buttoned-down cream shirt over skinny jeans looks really good on her long & lanky frame. *and comfy!*
B.T.W., Love the wedges!

Bad cop good cop aside, what I really wanna blog about is who the heck design the Malaysia Airlines' uniform?

Honestly speaking, I'm totally not jumping up & down over this look. In my opinion, the color of the print is way too washy-washy. Washy meaning it looks as if the baju kurung had been left inside the washing machine for way too long. If you ask me, I would suggest more vibrant colors for the baju kurung. Show the world what Malaysia's got!

Exposed!

I was inspired by my previous blog post 'Inner Reign' to reveal a before & after shot of me while I was gettin' ready for this award ceremony thingy that I attended. I gotta warned ya....... it's not a pretty sight!

To tell you the truth, i'm not really afraid of letting people see the natural side of me. I'm not the kind of person that wears make-up 24/7, I'm perfectly comfortable to go out in public without a stitch of make-up on. Heck, I don't even wear make-up to college! I would use mascara every now & then, but that is about as far as I would go when it comes to wearing make-up to class.

However, there is a side of me that is all about getting glam up for special occasions!

(It's amazing how a little eyeshadow & blusher can do to ya!)

As you can see, my hair is wet in the before shot, *obviously!*, I don't really like to blow-dry my hair, I kinda prefer my hair air-dried.

Anyway, I did my make-up while waiting for my hair to dry (it's a long process people!). By the time I am finished with my make-up, my hair was dried completely! (perfect timing huh?)

(pucker-up for the camera!)

I am totally in-love with this look I'm wearing! It's soft, long-lasting & it gives me great coverage!

After putting on my sunscreen, I prepped my face by using MAC's Strobe Cream Hydratant Lumineux face primer, MAC's Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation, Maybelline Perfect Concealer in Light Beige, MAC's Lightful Ultracharge Foundation, MAC's Bronzing Powder, & Sasa's Rosy Pink Blusher.

For the eyes, I'm using Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow (Ivory box, Honey Drop, Cinnamon, & Slate), Kate's Gel Eyeliner in Metallic Black for the upper eyeline, Maybelline Unstoppable Eye Liner in Velvet Black for the lower eyeline, & Sasa Super Dolly Powerful Mascara in Black.

F.Y.I, I don't really use fake eyelashes, my eyes are pretty sensitive, eveytime I use fake eyelashes, my eyes will start to feel a little painful after approximately 1 hour wearing them.

As for the lips, I used Kate Rouge Ex Lip color in BE-30, & Majolica Majorca Honey Pump Gloss Neo.

I wore one of my favourite dresses of all time, *LBD as a matter-of-fact*.
I love it as it embodies a modern take on the classic 1920's flapper dress.

(classic!)

The dress (by mini.com) had fringes on the torso instead of the entire length of the dress. I'm not exactly a fan of fringes but my dress is an exception. *too much fringe tends to add age in my opinion* The bottom of the dress is short & more flowy than the 1920's version. And so, it creates a more youthful feel compared to the classic flapper. *super flirty!*

Dresses & make-ups aside, how you feel on the inside is what makes you shine.

The most important advice that I can give to all you chica's out there is to feel good about yourselves! Love yourself. & others will love you. *muacks!*

Inner Reign

I attended sunway's scholarship award ceremony yesterday, & I gotta tell ya, it was super BORING! I was practically half-asleep the entire time. Anyway, the point is, i've just realized that recently, fearless celebrities are starting to embrace their inner true self by appearing on magazine covers without a stitch of makeup on. Some people may think it's crazy to do so, but for me, I think it's FABULOUS!

One of the first few magazine to showcase a feature on Stars Without Makeup is People Magazine.

Back in 2008, stars such as D
rew Barrymore, Jessica Biel & lots more grace the pages of People Mag in their oh-so-natural state.

Jessica Simpson also hopped on the "stars without makeup" bandwagon by appearing on the cover of Marie Claire without makeup or retouching. (at least that is what she wants us to think)

(supposedly air-blown hair)

French Elle also did a stars without makeup issue with 3 makeup-less celebrities on their cover (separately of course!)

According to Life&Style Magazine, Kim Kardashian is the l
atest celebrity that is "brave" enough to appear on their cover without makeup. To tell you the truth, i don't really buy it. I mean, she obviously had some concealer under her eyes or something! The cover had PHOTOSHOP written all over it! (oh, come on!)

( real or not real? You'll be the judge of that!)

Whether or not Kim had makeup on, at least she does look more natural than the glamorous makeup she usually had on, so I definitely applauded her for that!

Don't cha just love it when celebrities looked like real human beings fo
r a change?

Woman of all shapes & sizes regardless of age or race should be proud of how they look.

A few years back, while everybody was putting seemingly perfect models or celebrities on the cover of magazines or as the faces of advertising ad, Dove had started a campaign that features women of different shapes & sizes to encourage self-esteem among women. This Dove Campaign for Real Beauty inspires women to be more confident in their own skin.

The world today are starting to realize the negative impact of displaying photoshopped images of celebs in magazines and commercial ads. Baby steps are taken in acknowledging the fact that real women possess real beauty that should not be taken for granted.

Every women should feel proud of themselves. Flaunt what God gave ya! As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Love At First Sight

I would like to hereby declare my self-proclaimed love for:
(drum roll please...)

JACKETS!

Blazers, cropped, bomber, bolero...
U named it, I'd probably loved them!

Top 5 reasons why I can't live without them:

1. Jackets are more than a mere piece of clothing, it's an accessory!
2. Uh, hello? It keeps you warm & cozy during cold weather!
3. It's super flexible! You can dress it up for a night out in the town or dress it down for a cup of
coffee at Starbucks.
4. It helps to hide some problematic areas of your body that you do not want anyone to see!
e.g. muffin tops (the oozing fat around your waist)
5. It's pretty comfortable considering it just hang on to the body.

One of my favourite style icon that really know how 2 work a blazer is non other than Miss Kim K herself.
(notice how flirty yet subtle she looks with that trench-looking blazer she had on!)

(a more casual look, white this time, notice the slight hump of shoulder pads!)

Another one of my fav........ BIKER JACKETS!
As seen here on Taylor Momsen....

(can you say love?)

Of course, there is also a more sophisticated approach when it comes to jackets.
Case-in point, the oh-so-chic yet sexy pantsuits.

Women, in my opinion, always make the mistake of looking too old in a pantsuit.

The key to avoid looking too matronly in a pantsuit is by opting one that fits you like a glove.

Go for a jacket that has a longer lapel to create an illusion of a longer torso.
This will totally elongate your body and make you look slimmer.

Take a note from America's sweetheart Jennifer Aniston.
As shown on the picture above, Jen wore a jacket with a plunging neckline that added a little sex appeal without showing too much skin.
The jacket cinched her waist perfectly to show off her figure in the otherwise conservative look.

The September Issue

It's the 2nd day of my semester break here in SUC,
I was suppose to be on a flight back to Limbang,
but instead I'm stuck here in my hostel due to the fact that I had to attend a scholarship award ceremony this coming saturday,
I had no choice but to postpone my flight till sunday. *sheesh!*

On the bright side,
I finally have time to watch this movie/documentary that I've been dying to see, it's called:
THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE
THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE captures the behind-the-scene drama that follows the making of Vogue's 2007 September issue that features Sienna Miller on the cover.

F.Y.I, the dress Sienna wore was by Marchesa.

(The documentary was actually released years ago,
I just couldn't find the time to watch it!)

I'm lovin' it as it not only give the public an inside look at the fabulous life of the high priest of fashion, Anna Wintor, but it also showcase the craziness that was involved in preparing the fashion bible that is, Vogue Magazine.

I strongly recommend this movie/documentary to all you fashionistas out there!

Next up,
THE HANGOVER!
